Day 303: Banded Demoiselle

They’re out a little earlier this year than they were last year, and in larger numbers. The Banded Demoiselle is one of my favourite species of damselfly, due to their spectacular flight. The male’s wing markings appear electric blue under the right light, and they appear almost butterfly-like in the way that they move.

  1. Wow, I just took photos of these critters this past weekend. Only a few shots turned out well because they were just to jumpy for me to take a good photo with them in proper focus. Did you have the same problem. This photo still turned out well though.

    • Yeah, you have to be prepared to accept a few failures. I’ve been studying them for a while though, so I have a good idea how best to sneak up on them and where. Thanks for your comment.
